Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Dhaka.

This is a holy place. This nice mosque (mosjid) is considered the national mosque for Bangladesh. This place is elegant, spacious and well decorated, a wonderful place to say your everyday prayers. As this is the national mosque on Eid day usually five congregations are held starting from 7 AM.love to visit this place over and over.

আব্দুল লতিফ ইব্রাহিম বাওয়ানি প্রথম ঢাকাতে বিপুল ধারণক্ষমতাসহ একটি বৃহত্তর মসজিদ নির্মাণের পরিকল্পনার কথা প্রকাশ করেন। ১৯৫৯ সালে ‘বায়তুল মুকাররম মসজিদ সোসাইটি’ গঠনের মাধ্যমে এই পরিকল্পনা বাস্তবায়নের উদ্যোগ নেয়া হয়। পুরান ঢাকা ও নতুন ঢাকার মিলনস্থলে মসজিদটির জন্য ৮. ৩০ একর জায়গা অধিগ্রহণ করা হয়। স্থানটি নগরীর প্রধান বাণিজ্যকেন্দ্র থেকেও ছিল নিকটবর্তী। সেই সময় মসজিদের অবস্থানে একটি বড় পুকুর ছিল। যা 'পল্টন পুকুর' নামে পরিচিত ছিল। পুকুরটি ভরাট করে ২৭ জানুয়ারী ১৯৬০ সালে পাকিস্তান রাষ্ট্রপতি আইয়ুব খান মসজিদের কাজের উদ্ভোধন করেন।

সিন্ধুর বিশিষ্ট স্থপতি আব্দুল হুসেন থারিয়ানিকে মসজিদ কমপ্লেক্সটির নকশার জন্য নিযুক্ত করা হয়। পুরো কমপ্লেক্স নকশার মধ্যে দোকান, অফিস, গ্রন্থাগার ও গাড়ি পার্কিংয়ের ব্যবস্থা অন্তর্ভুক্ত হয়। মসজিদটির নির্মাণ কাজ সম্পন্ন হবার পর শুক্রবার, ২৫ জানুয়ারী ১৯৬৩ সালে প্রথমবারের জন্য এখানে নামাজ পড়া হয়।

১৯৭৫ সালের ২৮ মার্চ থেকে ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন বাংলাদেশ এই মসজিদের রক্ষণাবেক্ষণ করে আসছে। বর্তমানে বায়তুল মোকাররম জাতীয় মসজিদটি আটতলা। নিচতলায় রয়েছে বিপণিবিতান ও একটি বৃহত্তর অত্যাধুনিক সুসজ্জিত মার্কেট কমপ্লেক্স। দোতলা থেকে ছয়তলা পর্যন্ত প্রতি তলায় নামাজ পড়া হয়।

২০০৮ সালে সৌদি সরকারের অর্থায়নে মসজিদটি সম্প্রসারিত করা হয়। বর্তমানে এই মসজিদে একসঙ্গে ৪০ হাজার মুসল্লি নামাজ আদায় করতে পারেন। এ মসজিদের শোভাবর্ধন এবং উন্নয়নের কাজ এখনও অব্যাহত রয়েছে।

এটা বাংলাদেশের জাতীয় মসজিদ। অনেক সুন্দর ও আকারে অনেক বড়, একসাথে অনেক মুসল্লী নামাজ আদায় করতে পারে। এখানে মহিলারাও নামাজ আদায় করতে পারে। মসজিদের নিচে অনেক বড় একটি মার্কেট আছে।

This is my probably 2nd visit in the Bangladesh national mosque. 1st time when i was here i was with my father and today i really missed him. নির্ভরযোগ্য সূত্রে জানা গেছে, মসজিদ ভবনের মূল পিলার ও দেয়াল ভেঙে ফেলায় বড় ধরনের দুর্ঘটনার আশঙ্কা করা হচ্ছে। ঘটনাটি উদ্বেগজনক হওয়ায় তাৎক্ষণিকভাবে জরুরি বৈঠক ডাকেন ধর্ম প্রতিমন্ত্রী শেখ আব্দুল্লাহ। এতে দ্রুত সময়ের মধ্যে ভেঙে ফেলা পিলার ও দেয়াল পুনঃস্থাপন করতে এবং এ ঘটনায় জড়িত সোহরাবসহ অন্যদের বিরুদ্ধে ব্যবস্থা নেয়ার নির্দেশ দেন তিনি।
