জাতীয় মসজিদ বায়তুল মোকাররম বাংলাদেশর ঢাকা শহরের প্রাণকেন্দ্র গুলিস্তান, পুরানপল্টন এবং মতিঝিল এরিয়ায় অবস্থান। এটি মুসলিমদের একটি পবিত্র স্থান এবং ইবাদতের জায়গা।এটি বাংলাদেশর সবচেয়ে বড় এবং জাতীয় মসজিদ।

বায়তুল মোকাররম জাতীয় মসজিদ (আরবি:  بيت المكرَّم الوطني مسجد‎‎)  বাংলাদেশের জাতীয় মসজিদ। মসজিদটি রাজধানী ঢাকার প্রাণকেন্দ্র পল্টনে অবস্থিত। ১৯৬৮ সালে মসজিদটির নির্মাণ কাজ সম্পন্ন হয়। এর স্থাপত্যশৈলী অত্যন্ত দৃষ্টিনন্দন। তৎকালীন পাকিস্তানের বিশিষ্ট শিল্পপতি লতিফ বাওয়ানি ও তার ভাতিজা ইয়াহিয়া বাওয়ানির উদ্যোগে এই মসজিদ নির্মাণের পদক্ষেপ গৃহীত হয়। মসজিদে একসাথে ৩০, ০০০ মুসল্লি নামাজ আদায় করতে পারে, ফলে ধারণক্ষমতার দিক দিয়ে এটি বিশ্বের ১০ম বৃহত্তম মসজিদ। তবে মসজিদটিতে জুমার নামাজ ছাড়াও বিশেষত রমজানের সময় অত্যধিক মুসল্লির সমাগম হয় বিধায়,  বাংলাদেশ সরকার মসজিদের ধারণক্ষমতা ৪০ হাজারে উন্নিত করে।

বায়তুল মোকাররম মসজিদটি ৮ তলা। নীচতলায় রয়েছে বিপণী বিতান ও বিশাল মার্কেট। দোতলা থেকে ছয়তলা পর্যন্ত প্রতি তলায় নামাজ পড়া হয়। বর্তমানে মূল মসজিদ এবং উত্তর, দক্ষিণ ও পূর্ব সাহান মিলিয়ে সর্বমোট ৪০ সহস্রাদিক মুসল্লী একত্রে নামায আদায় করতে পারেন। মসজিদের অভ্যন্তরে ওযুর ব্যবস্থাসহ মহিলাদের জন্য পৃথক নামায কক্ষ ও পাঠাগার রয়েছে। ১ম তলার আয়তন ২৬, ৫১৭ বর্গফুট, দ্বিতীয় তলার আয়তন ১০, ৬৬০ বর্গফুট, তৃতীয় তলার আয়তন ১০, ৭২৩ বর্গফুট, চতুর্থ তলার আয়তন ৭৩৭০ বর্গফুট, পঞ্চম তলার আয়তন ৬, ৯২৫ বর্গফুট এবং ষষ্ঠ তলার আয়তন ৭৪৩৮ বর্গফুট। জুম্মা ও ঈদের সময় বাড়তি ৩৯, ৮৯৯ বর্গফুটে নামাজ পড়া হয়। মহিলাদের ৬, ৩৮২ বর্গফুটের নামাজের জায়গা রয়েছে, যা মসজিদের তিনতলার উত্তর পাশে অবস্থিত। পুরুষদের ওজুখানার জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয় ৬, ৪২৫ বর্গফুট। মহিলাদের ওজুখানার জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয় ৮৮০ বর্গফুট। মসজিদের প্রবেশ পথটি রাস্তা হতে ৯৯ ফুট উঁচুতে অবস্থিত।

প্রতি শুক্রবারে দূরদুরান্ত থেকে অনেক মানুষ আসে এই মসজিদে জুম্মার নামাজ আদায় করতে। অনেক দেশি-বিদেশি পর্যটক বায়তুল মোকাররম জাতীয় মসজিদ দর্শন করতে আসে প্রতিদিন।

The mosque complex was designed by architect, Abdulhusein M. Thariani. In 1959, owner of then Bawany Jute Mills, Haji Abdul Latif Bawany proposed to Major General Omrao Khan, then military administrator of East Pakistan, of building a grande mosque in Dhaka. Omrao Khan agreed to help on building such mosque. Same year, 'Baitul Mukarram mosque committee' had been established and 8.30 acre of land between new Dhaka and old Dhaka had been chosen. At that time, there was a large pond in present mosque's location. It was known as 'Paltan pond. The pond was filled up and on 27 January 1960 then president of Pakistan Ayub Khan commenced the work. Pray for first time took place on Friday, 25 January 1963
The plan included shops, offices, libraries and parking areas within the complex. Though there has been a tradition of dome mosque for Muslim, this building did not maintain the rule of traditional mosque in that time. A Mosque without a dome over the roof of its main prayer hall must have been a unique experiment. The mosque was built when the country was the Part of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
In 2008 the mosque was extended, financed by a donation from the Saudi government.

The upper portion of this mosque is set for prayer. The lower or ground portion is set for market.

মুসলমানদের ধর্মীয় দিক থেকে সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ যে কয়েকটি প্রধান স্থান রয়েছে তার মধ্যে মসজিদ অন্যতম।এই জামে মসজিদটি তার ব্যাতিক্রম নয়।ঢাকার ধর্ম ভিরু মুসলমানরা তাদের ৫ ওয়াক্ত নামাজ জামাতের সাথে এখানে আদায় করে তাছাড়া শুক্রবারে জুমার নামাজ পড়া হয়।

Though it's a sacred place but lack of cleanness. And mostly corwded at the entry gate. Also there all around shopping place of this sacred Mosjid.
