This unique museum, with its diverse and fascinating collection, provides an intriguing journey through Bangladesh's financial heritage. Visitors are treated to a comprehensive display of currencies, historical notes, and informative exhibits, offering a deeper understanding of the country's economic narrative. The money museum is located in Mirpur 2 Dhaka city. Collection is good but the lighting setup is terrible. Items can not be seen properly. If you want to know about currency, you should definitely come here. All the currency patterns from the ancient times to the present are found here. No entry fee is needed. Everyone can come to the museum effortlessly. Inside the museum only wallets, mobiles are allowed. Taking photo and video inside the museum is prohibited. The museum has 1 gallery on the 2nd floor and 2 galleries on the 3rd floor. There is a small Kids-zone on the 2nd floor. The atmosphere inside and outside the museum is captivating, The staff behaves very well, friendly.

You can find all currency including coin and money of Bangladesh. This place is very small but well decorated. You can learn a lot regarding Bangladeshi currency. If you want you can also buy old currency from there.
It was a nice experience, their guide was really amazing and super friendly as we talked through the museum she explained us the history and all about it. The only thing that suffocated me was that I wasn't allowed to bring any snacks nor was there any canteen near by, and as I went a little too early I had to wait for an whole hour
Historic place. It's an interesting place for people who collects coins. I loved this place. It's free of cost.

Taka Museum or Currency Museum is located in Mirpur, Bangladesh. Metal coins and paper notes of different periods from ancient Bengal to modern times have been stored and displayed in this Taka Museum. Also on display are many wooden boxes and iron chests used in ancient times to hold coins.
Taka Museum is located on the second floor of Bangladesh Bank Training Academy. Originally, the work of collecting currencies started in the main building in 2009, but in 2013 it was officially inaugurated as Taka Museum.
No ticket is required to visit or enter this museum, it is absolutely free. Taka Museum is open daily from 00: 11 am to 07: 00 pm, except on Thursdays and public holidays. Only on Fridays, it is open from 04: 00 pm to 07: 00 pm. The weekly closing day is Thursday.
From anywhere in Dhaka you have to go directly to Mirpur-1 or Mirpur-10 Gol Chotwor. From there you can walk or take a rickshaw to the Taka Museum. However, people know this place more as Bangladesh Bank Training Center. Rickshaw fare from Mirpur-1 or Mirpur-10 Gol Chotwor is 15-20 taka.
বাংলাদেশের এবং পৃথিবীর অন্যান্য দেশের প্রাচীন সব মুদ্রার এই সামাজ্য, হারিয়ে নিয়ে যায় শত বৎসর পিছনে!
The collection of coins and notes are very wide. The place is clean, and secured. Theg have some very peculiar notes, for example, 40tk note. They collected coins from British raj to current Bangladesh era.
This museum is presenting the physical currencies of the historical era. This museum contains all kinds of physical currencies from the Saltanat era to as of now. Some brief descriptions about the financial transaction histories are being presented in this museum. Along with the financial transaction history and physical currencies of the Indian subcontinent, this museum is also presenting physical currencies of many countries like Japan, the USA, UK, etc.
To speak the truth, I did not expect such a good experience. The architecture of the museum itself is eye catching. The open space design gives you an impression of freedom and relief. Then comes the main attraction, i.e. The notes and coins. Starting from Mourya age to the present day Bangladesh, the coins and notes from all the ages have been presented. My favorite are the silver coins from the Mughal era and the gold coins from the Sultanate of Delhi. There are coins from the British era, notes from the Pakistan era, and all the notes from 1971 to 2021. There are the casts used for minting coins, and the commemorative coins. You can buy commemorative notes and coins which can be collected as souvenir (the coins are a bit expensive though). The funniest part is the photo kiosk where you can take your photo and print it on a one hundred thousand taka note. All in all, great experience and highly recommended. Oh, the entry is free, and Thursday is closed.
Ladesh Bank established the museum, the first of its kind in the country, beside the Bangladesh Bank Training Academy with a collection of over three thousand coins and currency notes.
Keeper of the Taka Museum Dr Achia Khanom Likhon said: “Former Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman took the initiative in 2012 to establish the museum equipped with modern technology and facilities to preserve and exhibit the history and tradition of currency, ” reported UNB.
“In 2009, the museum was established on the third floor of the main building of the central bank at Motijheel, but that was not open to all. Now, visitors can visit the ‘Taka Museum’free of cost. ”
At the museum, coins and currencies are currently exhibited in two galleries. The first contains 43 display cases with approximately 1100 objects. The story of the evolution of coins and currencies starts right here.
The gallery shows its visitors how people traded goods long before the tradition of coins and bank notes prevailed.
The ancient silver punch marked coins of the fourth to second century BC (Before Christ) speak of the earliest history of coins in Indian subcontinent.
The collection also includes Kushan coins from 30 to 375 AD (Anno Domini), Indo Greek Silver coins from 2nd to 1st century AD, Cowry shells, Harikel Coin from 7th to 9th century AD.
One of the best museum in Bangladesh. Calm, ambient lighting and music make you forget about the time.
One of the best thing in Mirpur. This museum deserve more. If we go there then we can learn about our money history and others countries money history too. They have enough technology and good behavior. If you go Mirpur 2 then you should go there. ️️
There are almost all kinds of money shows from the British period to the Pakistan period and the present era of Bangladesh. Not only Bangladesh but also different countries have different age money shows here. The environment of the museum is very clean. Adequate discipline exists. All in all I liked the museum a lot.
