The restaurant was the real attraction. Connected to it since highschool days. The food is lovely, but a bit of a rush. 80% breakfast menus are sold out by 8: 30 am on weekends. Weekdays a different view since not all menus are prepared.

As usual the same good quality kacchi biriyani. If you know the history Star started making kacchi biriyani to sell it with minimum price so that people can easily afford to have kacchi biriyani rather than eating only at weddings or big arrangements. They made it with minimal spice combinations less oily and people loved the food and still their kacchi is one of the 10 in Dhaka. I ordered Mutton rejala with kacchi, and that was good too. I always find this restaurant's quality is better than Banani Branch.

কাচ্চি, চিকেন বিরিয়ানি, লেগ রোষ্ট, চিকেন রোষ্ট, পরটা, নান, রুমালি রুটি, লাচ্চি, ফালুদা, ফিন্নি, বোরহানি। এই সকল জনপ্রিয় খাবার এর জন্য অন্যতম স্থান হচ্ছে কারওয়ান বাজার এর হোটেল সুপার ষ্টার। সকালের নাস্তা, দুপুরের ও রাতের খাবার এবং সন্ধ্যায় উপচে পরা ভীড় থাকে এইখানে। খাবারের মান যথেষ্ঠ ভাল। সার্বিক উন্নত ব্যবস্থাপনা ও খাবার পরিবেশন, খাবারের মান, পরিবেশ এবং গ্রাহক বান্ধব হওয়ায় সবার নিকট এর গ্রহনযোগ্যতা ব্যাপক।

স্টার হোটেল অ্যান্ড রেস্টুরেন্ট। দেশ স্বাধীনের আগে পুরান ঢাকার ছোট্ট একটি গলিতে যাত্রা শুরু হয় হোটেলটির। আজ তার নাম-যশ-খ্যাতি দেশজুড়ে। পুরো ঢাকায় এটি বিস্তৃত-সমাদৃত। রাজধানীর বিভিন্ন এলাকায় মেলেছে ডানা। সততা আর নিষ্ঠার সঙ্গে মন কেড়েছে ভোজনরসিকদের। প্রতিষ্ঠানটি অত্যন্ত সুনামের সঙ্গে খাবারের মান ধরে রেখেছে। খাবার পরিবেশনে এখনো সাধারণের কাছে তার অবস্থান শীর্ষে। আজ থেকে প্রায় ৫৩ বছর আগে এক হাজার বর্গফুট জায়গায় মীর মমতাজ উদ্দিন চালু করেছিলেন স্টার হোটেল অ্যান্ড রেস্টুরেন্ট। পুরান ঢাকার ঠাটারীবাজারের বিসিসি রোডে ১৯৬৫ সালে যাত্রা শুরু করে রাজধানী ঢাকার বিভিন্ন এলাকায় ডানা মেলেছে স্টার। অভিজাত শ্রেণিকে টার্গেট করে রেস্টুরেন্টের যাত্রা শুরু হলেও মানবসেবার বিষয়টি ভুলে যাননি মীর মমতাজ উদ্দিন। যেখান থেকে শুরু স্টার হোটেলের, সেখানকার চারতলা ভবনটি ভেঙে নতুনভাবে গড়ে তোলা হচ্ছে। সেখানে ঢাকার অন্য শাখাগুলোর নকশার সঙ্গে সামঞ্জস্য রেখে নতুন একটি ছয়তলা ভবন নির্মাণের কাজ গত বছর থেকে শুরু হয়েছে বলে জানা যায়। রাজধানী ঢাকার বিভিন্ন এলাকায় স্টার হোটেলের শাখা বর্তমানে ১১টি। এর মধ্যে জয়কালী মন্দির রোডের হোটেল সুপার স্টার, ধানমন্ডির সাতমসজিদ রোড, কারওয়ান বাজার, ফার্মগেট, ধানমন্ডি ২ নম্বর রোড, বনানী, এলিফ্যান্ট রোড, গুলিস্তান, বঙ্গবাজার ও জনসন রোডে জজ কোর্টের সামনে। এটিই স্টারের সর্বশেষ শাখা। এই রেস্তোরাঁয় সাধারণত আনাগোনা থাকে সমাজের অভিজাত শ্রেণির মানুষের। সময়ের সঙ্গে বেড়েছে গ্রাহক সংখ্যাও। যেখানে দুপুর কিংবা রাতের খাবার খেতে ব্যয় করতে হয় ১৪০ টাকা থেকে ৩০০ টাকা বা তার চেয়ে বেশি। কিন্তু এই স্টারেই রয়েছে নিম্নবিত্ত মানুষের অল্প খরচে পেটপুরে খাবারের ব্যবস্থা। ‘স্টাফ খাবার’ নামে মাত্র ৩৫ টাকায় নিম্নবিত্ত মানুষের জন্য খাবার বিতরণ করে স্টার। সরেজমিন দেখা যায়, স্টারের প্রতিটি শাখাতেই দুপুর ও রাতের জন্য থাকে ‘স্টাফ খাবার’। ইদানীং শুধু নিম্নবিত্ত শ্রেণির মানুষই নন, মধ্যম আয়ের মানুষও এই ‘স্টাফ খাবার’ খেয়ে থাকেন। হোটেল সংশ্লিষ্টরা জানান, ১৯৮২ সাল থেকে স্টার হোটেলে চালু আছে ‘স্টাফ খাবার’। মীর মমতাজ উদ্দিন ‘স্টাফ খাবার’ চালু করেছিলেন দিনমজুরদের কথা ভেবে। প্রথমে এটা শুরু হয়েছিল নাস্তা দিয়ে। তখন রুটি কিনতে হতো, ভাজি দেওয়া হতো বিনামূল্যে। এরপর থেকে এখন পর্যন্ত মাত্র ৩৫ টাকায় দুপুর ও রাতের খাবার দেওয়া হয় নিয়মিত। যেখানে ওই টাকার মধ্যে ইচ্ছামতো ভাত ও ডাল খেতে পারেন ক্রেতারা। পাশাপাশি ভাজি, মাছ, ডিম বা গিলা কলিজার যে কোনো একটি পদ দেওয়া হয়। এই সুবিধা সব শাখাতেই চালু আছে। রেস্তোরাঁয় এসে ‘স্টাফ খাবার’ বললেই এই খাবারটা পাবেন দিনমজুর বা স্বল্প আয়ের ক্রেতারা। তবে এজন্য তাদের ৩৫ টাকা পরিশোধ করে একটা টোকেন সংগ্রহ করতে হবে। এই টোকেন দেখিয়েই তাদের খাবার দেওয়া হয়। এই খাবারের জন্য তাদের এক বাটি তরকারির (ডিম/মাছ/গিলা-কলিজা) সঙ্গে ভাত এবং ডাল দেওয়া হয় প্রয়োজন মতো। প্রতিদিন দুপুরের খাবারের জন্য দুপুর দেড়টা থেকে বিকাল ৪টা পর্যন্ত ‘স্টাফ খাবার’ দেওয়া হয়। আবার রাতের খাবারের জন্য রাত ৮টা থেকে ১০টা পর্যন্ত ‘স্টাফ খাবার’-এর ব্যবস্থা থাকে। স্টার হোটেলের খাবারের মান নিয়ন্ত্রণে রান্নাবান্না সবকিছু মীর মমতাজ উদ্দিন নিজেই তদারকি করতেন বলে জানান হেলাল নামে স্টার হোটেলের এক নিরাপত্তা কর্মী। তিনি প্রায় ২৪ বছর ধরে স্টার হোটেলে কর্মরত। জানালেন, বেঁচে থাকতে প্রতিদিন সকালে ঠাটারীবাজারের শাখাতে এসে নাস্তা খেতেন মীর মমতাজ উদ্দিন। নাস্তায় অর্ধেক ভাজি ও অর্ধেক পরোটা খেতেন তিনি। খাওয়ার পর ডাকতেন সেসব রান্না করার বাবুর্চিদের। পরামর্শ দিতেন ভাজি ভালো করতে এবং পরোটা আরও নরম করতে কী কী করতে হবে। বিরানির ক্ষেত্রে পাঁচ কেজি চালে কী পরিমাণ মসলা দিতে হবে তারও দিকনির্দেশনা দিতেন। অত্যন্ত ভালো মন ও মিষ্টভাষী লোক ছিলেন তিনি। স্টার হোটেলে শুরুর দিকে মোরগ পোলাও থাকলেও ১৯৭১ সালের পর ওই হোটেলে চালু করা হয় নবাবী খাবার কাচ্চি বিরানি। এই বিরানি এখনো জনপ্রিয়। ২০১৫ সালে মীর মমতাজ উদ্দিনের মৃত্যুর পর তার ছেলে আক্তার উদ্দিন দুলাল ব্যবসার হাল ধরেন।

Its a residential hotel. I went there to meet someone i know who came for business reasons from ctg. In terms of location this hotel is ideal for local business people buy not suitable for family or marriage couple also for foreigners.

This place is reasonable and well rounded, despite some caveats like sitting capacity, management etc which might catch your eyes not so often.

Star kabab itself has a very good reputation. Food are always tasty as it should be. Price is quite reasonable.
